I always wanted them to be friends with Smaug, but yeah, this is exactly what would have happened.
This was the first time I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying a black sapote, also known as the ‘chocolate pudding fruit’ - and let me tell you, its colloquial name is no exaggeration. The taste and texture is unbelievable. It’s up there with medjool dates on the Nature’s Miracles list for sure.
Sadly this is the only place I’ve ever found them (at Mullumbimby famers’ markets about 20 minutes from Byron Bay) but they were sourced from Far North Queensland, so I urge anybody within the vicinity (I’m looking at you, Bianca) to eat them everyday on my behalf, and for your own sakes of course.
I NEED TO TRY THIS
